Welcome to the LOUYAA field hockey program! Our goal at LOUYAA field hockey is to coach girls at every level of the sport and encourage great teamwork, comradery, good sportsmanship and passion for the game.
This spring, LOUYAA field hockey will be coaching a field hockey clinic on the Chuck Foreman Turf Field at Ballenger Creek Park in Frederick. The clinic will teach basic field hockey skills to beginning players. For more experienced players, they will have the opportunity to practice their skills on a turf field – which changes the speed of the game. This is a wonderful opportunity for all age groups and skill levels.
The clinic will focus on skills and drills with some planned scrimmages, but will not include games.
If you are interested in competitive play with games, we encourage you to enroll your daughter in LOUYAA lacrosse for the spring and join LOUYAA field hockey in the fall for our competitive season.
LOUYAA will provide:
- LOUYAA field hockey branded reversible pinnie
- (size will be pulled from your registration information)
Field Hockey Equipment Needed:
- Mouth guard
- Protective eye goggles
- Shin Guards (either soccer or field hockey guards are fine)
- No cleats are necessary for practice since we will be on turf, however they are permitted to be worn on turf if they have plastic spikes
If you are purchasing a stick – the top of the stick should line up with your daughter’s hip bone. Be sure to measure the stick before purchasing to make sure you’re getting the right size. In Frederick, both Dick’s Sporting Goods and Play It Again Sports sell field hockey equipment.
If you have a first-time player and don’t want to purchase a field hockey stick, LOUYAA will rent one to you for the season for $10 (in addition to the registration fee).
Looking forward to the spring season!
