LOUYAA Lacrosse is the rec program offered for those in Linganore, Oakdale and Urbana communities. We offer instructional, recreational programs for girls and boys ages 5 to 14 and more competitive team play for ages 9 to 14. Head coaches have been trained in the Positive Coaching Alliance and are US Lacrosse Level 1 certified. All coaches are also concussion certified.
Register for Spring 2018 Lacrosse
Girls will play in the Western Maryland Youth Lacrosse Conference (WMYLC) during the spring season.
Girls will be placed on teams based on grade. K-1st: Scoopers*, 1st & 2nd: U9*, 3rd & 4th: U11, 5th & 6th: U13 and 7th& 8th: U15. Competitive teams will be fielded at the U11, U13 and U15 age divisions. Competitive teams will play for standings to determine division champion and for the end of season tournament seedings. Instructional games are played at the scoopers and U9 age levels.
The season consists of 8 conference games and games are scheduled primarily on Sundays (make-up games scheduled as calendar permits). There will be try-outs for the U11 U13 and U15 age levels to be held in early March. Our girls will practice a minimum of 2- evenings a week and practices will likely begin the second week in March. The season opening weekend is March 26th.
LOUYAA Girls participate in the WMYLC Tournament which will be held May 27th and 28th and all teams have the chance to participate in an optional post-season tournament outside of WMYLC.
*Note: 1st graders new to lacrosse will be placed in scoopers, 2nd year lacrosse players in 1st grade will be placed on 8U teams. WMYLC.
Equipment required: Crosse (Girls Lacrosse Stick), Goggles, Mouth guard
Equipment recommended: cleats
Boys will play in the Western Maryland Youth Lacrosse Conference (WMYLC) during the spring season.
Boys will be placed on teams based on current spring school grade, as follows.
K-1st: Co-Ed Scoopers (developmental, can expect to play approximately 4 games per season)
1st and 2nd Graders
3rd & 4th Graders
5th & 6th Graders
7th& 8th Graders
Competitive teams will be fielded at the 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th Grade divisions. Competitive teams will play for standings to determine division champion and for the end of season tournament seedings. The season consists of 8 conference games and will be scheduled primarily on Saturdays. Boys 7th/8th Grade Teams will primarily play on Sundays. Make-up games are scheduled as calendar permits.
Boys will practice a minimum of 2-3 evenings a week and practices will begin the first or second week of March, weather permitting. K-1 may start practices later. Practice nights and times are at the head coach’s discretion, but usually last 2 hours, and are held between the hours of 5pm and 8pm. The amount of daylight in the beginning of the season will play a part.
Opening game weekend for 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8 Grades will be March 24/25.
The K/1 Boys will play four games, and will begin games on April 28.
LOUYAA participates in the WMYLC Tournament which will be held June 2nd and 3rd, and all teams have the chance to participate in an optional post-season tournament of their choice.
Equipment required for games: Lax Helmet, Mouth guard, Shoulder pads, Elbow pads, Gloves, Athletic supporter, Boys Regulation Play Lax Stick
Equipment recommended: Rib pads, cleats.
